ANGIE’S ZONE – THE VISIONARY
“I find myself the most energized and passionate when I am designing the future. Whether it be designing the future of IBA, developing marketing strategies, or devising clever Search Engine tactics. I like to be mentally challenged. I do my best work when an obstacle is put in front of me that I need to overcome. I thrive in chaos and embrace (literally, SEEK) change. I pride myself in my ability to adapt, and my willingness to try new things. I want to know EVERYTHING… and I want to be the expert. When I am in my zone I could work for days with a smile on my face – the hours passing without cognizance. My employees would agree that there is only one pace for me, and that’s full speed ahead.”
So why is this important?
Your zone of genius is your unique power. It is a one-of-a-kind quality that you bring to your work and it lets you do certain things better than almost anyone else. When you are working in your zone of genius you feel a natural passion ignite. When one says ‘I LOVE WHAT I DO!’ they are definitely working within their zone of genius.
In an IBA creative session a few weeks ago we focused on defining each of our zones of genius. (You should too!) By doing that, we are able to understand and utilize each of our passions to delegate tasks to the person most suited for the job. An effortless task for one person may be a nightmare task for another… it’s important to recognize this.
Working in your zone energizes and inspires you. You perform well, and are left with a feeling of satisfaction about what you are doing.
Realistically (and unfortunately), you can’t work in your zone of genius all of the time, however, it should be a priority to insert a bit of your ‘zone’ into every day. Find your passion and make sure it does not get lost in the shuffle of life.
- Are you passionate about what you are doing?
- Could you spend all day doing this and still have a smile on your face?
- Does the work come ‘easily’ to you? (even when it’s very challenging?)
- Would you do it if you weren’t paid to do it?
Once again, thanks for reading!
xoxo, Angie
